The 8th Grade Humanities classes got together for the annual Colonial Fair in early November. Students role played American colonialists who were fresh off the boat looking for a colony to settle in. Off of the boat and onto land, what a blast! We learned so much about the colonies that I bet most people have never even heard about. First we started out in Ms. Barr’s classroom. There were laughs, jokes, and jingles flying in the air. Each person got to learn about the colonies in a different way. At the end of each presentation, the audience switched over to the next group, ready to learn even more. Each group had multiple brochures to hand out to make sure that everyone could learn a little more about each colony. As the audience circled throughout the colonies, each group gathered together and sang a little tune or jingle to raise the happiness, and hopefully give a fact or two in it revealing just a little more about the colony. Most groups afterwards gave out small treats such as cookies, muffins, juice, and raffles for twice the fun! Next, our class moved over to Ms. Wellington’s class to repeat the process. I personally want to thank everybody who helped with a project, and the teachers who made it possible. We can’t wait to see if there is another project like this, just around the corner!
