Eagles Are Environmental
First Graders showed off all they have learned about being Environmental during their Assembly in April. The props and the set were all constructed from reused materials. The show opened with students parading in holding pictures they had drawn about things they love about the earth. Their first song was "Earthlings Unite", followed by a video about how long it takes trash to decompose. They presented some facts that shocked the audience such as it takes between three and four weeks for a banana peel to decompose, up to 200 years for a soda can to decompose and 500 years for a disposable diaper to decompose. Two of the songs the students sang were written and composed with Jim Valley during his visit earlier in the year. Three other videos, created by the students demonstrated how we should only buy what we need at the store and to bring our own reusable shopping bags, how to reduce, reuse and recycle and the final video was a 'newscast' explaining how to live a healthy life. The finale song was Jim Valley's "If I Could Change the World."
